England played themselves back into the World T20 after a record run chase against South Africa at Mumbai on Friday to win by 2 wickets with 2 balls remaining.

Morgan won a vital toss for England and opted to bowl first after considering the dew factor. What followed was an amazing batting display from Amla and de Kock putting on 96 runs for the opening wicket after just 7 overs. De Kock lost his wicket on 52 from 24 balls, while Amla went on to score 58 from 31 balls. De Villiers was moved up the order due to the good start but failed to kick on after scoring 16 from 8 balls. After the heroics in the power play overs England clawed their way back into the game, but Duminy and Miller had the final say as they took South Africa to a huge total of 229/4. Duminy ended not out on 54 from 28 balls, while Miller bashed 28 from 12 balls. Ali was the best bowler for England, ending with 2/34 from his 4 overs.

Faced with an almost impossible task, the England openers came out swinging, and timed the ball from the get go. Hales lost his wicket in the 3rd over with 48 runs already on the board. Roy went on to smash 43 from 16 balls before falling victim to Abbott in the 5th over. Joe Root came in at four, and proceeded to play composed innings of 83 from 44 balls to get his side close to the win. Despite the heroics in the final overs it was Moeen Ali who kept his head to get England past the target, as they notched up the 2nd highest run chase ever in T20 International cricket. Imran Tahir was the top bowler for South Africa, but it was the likes of Dale Steyn who conceded 35 form his 2 overs that cost South Africa dearly in the end.
