India will take on a frail looking Sri Lanka in match 7 of the Asia Cup 2016 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium this Tuesday.

Previous results in this format between the sides are very equal with India winning 5 of the 9 meetings and Sri Lanka 4. The last two fixtures between the sides was won by India, who should once again prove too strong.

India started the tournament well with wins over Pakistan and Bangladesh, and look set for a place in the final if they can get past Sri Lanka. India opted to open the innings with Sharma and Rahane last time out against Pakistan with both failing to get off the mark. This placed huge pressure on Kohli who showed good composure to guide his side home. More of the same will be needed today, although the selectors will be hoping for a better showing from the in-form Sharma. The Indian bowling has been spot on this far with both pace and spin dominating opposition teams. The return of Nehra looks to be a masterstroke ahead of the World T20 as he is not just economical, but also ensuring that India get early wickets to put the opposition under pressure.

Sri Lanka look to be a team in turmoil, after failing to chase a target of 148 against Bangladesh. The top four all got into double figures but failed to convert the starts. Dilshan, Mathews and the out of for Perera will have to show some leadership if Sri Lanka are to dig themselves out of the hole they find themselves in. With plenty of new names in the squad they have to find some sort of consistency, as the loss of key players over the last year has left a huge dent.

India should have enough firepower to ensure they make it 3 wins in a row, but one can never right off a Sri Lankan side with their backs against the wall.
