The West Indies surprised the cricket world on Thursday when they ousted the might India to reach the ICC World T20 final where they will face England.

Sammy won the toss and invited India to bat first. Rahane replaced the out of form Dhawan and made an immediate impression with a 62 runs opening partnership with Rohit Sharma. Badree struck first for the West Indies when he trapped Sharma lbw with his score on 43 off 31 balls. His wicket brought the in-form Virat Kohli to the crease who once again was in scintillating form. Rahane was dismissed by Russell in the 16th over for 40 from 35 balls but it was the bat of Kohli that did all the damage in the death overs. Together with Dhoni they got India to a formidable score of 192/2 after the allotted 20 overs. Kohli ended not out on 89 off just 47 balls. Badree was the best bowler for the Windies, ending with figures of 1/26 from his 4 overs.

With a huge uphill task ahead the men from the Caribbean would have depended a lot on Chris Gayle, who failed to make any impression when he was bowled by Bumrah in the 2nd over of the chase. Samuels came out swinging but never found the middle of the bat and was caught with his score on 8. Charles and Simmons got them back into the contest, as the pair managed to silence the huge Indian crowd with some lusty hitting. Charles was dismissed with his score on 52 off 36 balls in the 14th over. Discipline cost India dearly, taking two wickets who were both recalled due to no-balls. Simmons with 82 off 51 balls and Russell with 43 off 20 balls got the Windies over the line with 2 balls still remaining. Russell struck 4 huge sixes, which included a six off Virat Kohli in the final over as the winning runs.
