Honors were even when stumps were called at the end day two of the second test between Pakistan and England at Dubai.

Pakistan started the day on 282/4, looking to build on their solid start, but just managed to bat out the morning session as wicket fell at regular intervals. Captain Misbah-ul-Haq was the first to go with his score on 102. Asad SHafiq and Sarfraz Ahmed got thing back on track after the early strike, but the wicket of Ahmed opened the door for the England bowling unit. Asad SHafiq reached 83 off 178 balls, but got very little assistance from the lower order, as Pakistan were bowled out on the stroke of lunch for 378. Ali and Wood were the top wicket takers for England, taking 3 wickets each. England looked happy with their effort, securing 6 Pakistan wicket in the first session, giving them plenty of confidence going forward.

England got off to a disastrous start, losing the wickets of Ali and Bell with just 14 runs on the board. The early losses sent packing stations through the England side, but Cook and Root did a good job to consolidate the innings, taking England to the tea interval with the score on 105/2. Both Khan and Riaz looked in good form with the new ball, but were unable to capitalize on the early inroads.

The final session of the day saw Alistair Cook reaching his 50 off 95 balls, followed by Joe Root off 96 balls, as the pair brought up an excellent century stand. Yasir Shah finally managed to secure a breakthrough for Pakistan, when he has Cook caught with his score on 65. Bairstow joined Root at the crease, and the pair saw England safely to the close of play, ending on 182/3.
