Pakistan took a 2-1 lead in the five match ODI series against Sri Lanka after a massive 135 runs win in the 3rd ODI played at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday.

Azhar Ali won the toss for his side and elected to bat first. He opened the batting with Ahmed Shehzad, putting on a 93 runs opening stand to set the perfect foundation for Pakistan. Both were dismissed in the fourties, bringing the experience if Mohammad Hafeez to the crease. He kept the momentum going, but it was the bat of Sarfraz Ahmed that did most of the damage, promoted to number four in the batting order. Ahmed smashed 77 off 74 balls before he wsa run out by Perera in the 45th over. Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Rizwan used the death over to good effect, hitting a few lusty blows to take Pakistan for a formidable total of 316/4 after 50 overs. Malinga nad Pathirana took a wicket each, while run outs cost Pakistan dearly, restrcting a total that could easily have reached 350.

Sri Lanka were in early toruble, with both Perera and Dilshan back in the pavilion with just 42 runs on the board. This placed a huge amount of pressure on the middle order, who simply crumbled under the growing required run rate. Thirimanne top scored with 56 off 67 ablls, but got little support from the batsman around him. The likes of Mathews, Chadimal and Tharanga all failed which saw Sri Lanka being bolwed out in the 42 over with just 181 runs on the board. It was the bowling of Yasir Shah that did most of the damage, ending with match winning figures of 4/29 fro his 10 overs. Imad Wasim also put in a quality performance on debut with figures of 2/28 fromhis 7.1 overs.
